Ya Ly Couture

The worst kept secret for tailoring in Hội An (or the most popular, depending on how you look at it). Like all tailoring in town you will require multiple fittings and even then it may not be as good as you had hoped. It is probably the first choice for tourists because they have decent air conditioning on steamy days. From my own experience there is better material and quality workmanship in HCMC

Construction almost over

Our street is almost finished. It has certainly come a long way from this, but it seems to have taken a ridiculously long time

Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport

The building at the front that turns around to the right is the international terminal. The old international terminal, which is now the domestic terminal, is further around on the right (with the four aero bridges)

Vendors outside Nhà Thờ Tân Định

There are mobile stalls on streets all over the city. These guys outside Tân Định church are selling stuff for the average motorbike driver - face masks, gloves and rain jackets. You do not even need to get off your bike to purchase aything

Roadside mandarins

Currently mandarins are fetching between VND 8,000 and 12,000 (under 1 USD) a kilo on the side of many roads around town. This seller was one of many lined up along on Ðiện Biên Phủ st in District 3

Wild storms yesterday

Strange scenes for March - a very wet and windy day yesterday. This photo was taken downtown at the bottom of Hai Bà Trưng st. As you can see the wind has blown a tree across the street and damaged a Mercedes station wagon in the process, plus there was localised flooding throughout the city. Chances are the car is not covered by insurance. Photo courtesy of Riina

Fruit and Veg on the run

You see these peddlers all over town. The load up their means of transport with goods and then, in this case, cycle them around town to where they can sell them. Easy

Islands off central Việt Nam

Am not sure whether all of these islands are inhabited, the large one certainly is, or what actually happens on them. I just liked the gold rim of the sand circulating the islands as the sun was almost gone.

Municipal Theatre

The Municipal Theatre is a focal landmark downtown. The large forecourt allows for outdoor entertainment such as this nighttime drumming presentation
