I've only seen one banana tree in person in my lifetime. I live in the colder parts of the planet and only see the banana trees when I vacation to warm destinations. I like this capture.

there're many types of bananas in VN; Xiem banana (I think it was from Thailand originally, it's shorter, fatter, sweeter, and juicier than the Del Monte's;

Gia` banana (Chiquita's, Del Monte's banana that are sold in the West);

Cao banana (small, short, thin peel);

Ngu*. banana, kinda fat, but very thick peel, usually people wait for it ripe (the skin turns yellow), then they boil it in water

there's one type of banana that when flowering it just shoots out the whole bunch of bananas at once instead of shredding the outerlayer of the banana flower one layer at the time (normally it's a slow process); these type of bananas are very long; more than a feet long; and thick skin, the texture is just like the Ngu*. banana; boiled before eat ...
