Advertising

I worked in Saigon in 2005 and have been there a couple times a year ever since. In August I will be getting married with a Saigonese and will return again. I have studied much about the history of VN and saw how things used to be post-1975. I look at this picture "Advertising" and it immediately reminded me of the scene from Full Metal Jacket where the guys get their camera stolen. The thieves take off on a motorbike in front of a bunch of billboards at a traffic circle just liek this. Billboards, traffic circle, red/white curbs...it's funny how Saigon of today finally once again looks like Saigon of 1961. They have the advertising and a certain degree of commercial freedom and I am confident that the rest of the freedoms will come along soon enough. I can't wait to see how that works out!
