I have always wondered if this tower with the Alpenliebe confectionary advertising down the side was ever used for something. If anyone knows the history, please let me know

It looks huge, whatever it is!
Is it on Hanoi highway?.I think it was used as a water tower.
From memory this is a rocket ship styled water tower on Dien Bien Phu st, near the foul canal. Back in 2001 I think it had a pepsi logo running down its length. You can definitely see the remnants of former advertising above and below the current fading sign
Somebody told me it was a water tower in the past or had something to do with water. I never got the full scoop.
