I was born and raised in Vietnam but never had to use one of these.
Catfish pond? The ultimate recycling process, IMO.
That is only seen in some southern provinces, friends. I'm a Vietnamese but couldn't believe when seeing it sometimes ago! Terrible!!!! Have u had a try? Hope that u were not shocked when the fish jumped up n down!

Only in the South? Not so: you'll see these over-the-water toilets all over SE Asia, and especially Indonesia. You sound quite horrified but it's a very practical idea.
