Table cooking
One of my favourite Vina eats is the barbecue on the table - marinated meat and seafood done over a few coals, so tasty. This version is much better than the gas BBQs found at more upscale restaurants.

Another billboard
Following on from yesterday, another billboard adorning half a house. This one at least is advertising something a little better than Phaner Pies

Phaner Pie
Looking identical to the world famous but equally woeful Choco Pie, the Phaner Pie seems to be a concoction of thermonuclear marshmallow squeezed between two hard stale biscuits and covered in a brown substance touted as chocolate but am assured is closer to carob. I couldn't think of anything worse. I don't think these guys could either

Drainage works continue
Many of the major thoroughfares in the city have been undergoing extensive drainage renovations over the past year, causing a multitude of headaches for drivers on already congested roads. You get the feeling it will never end

Apparel with correct spelling
There are a lot of examples of clothing here that are rip offs from original brands. Not being an expert I can only identify the non-genuine ones by simple things like incorrect spelling.

New underpass on Nguyen Huu Canh st
Regular readers of this blog will note my continual ranting about the state of Nguyen Huu Canh st, the major thoroughfare between home and downtown. The never ending construction seems to be coming to a close, as the cars now have an underpass separate from the motorbikes. Pundits are already speculating on how the underpass will cope in the wet season, as the height of the underpass is below the Saigon river.

Streetside cafe
This lady sells noodles and drinks, all from the mobile stall on the left. I am always impressed at the semi-permanent things these stalls have, such as the retractable awning above if it rains. This picture was taken between lunch and dinner, so am not sure how popular it is

I pity the fool....who would buy this oven
Transplanting overseas adverts into the local media is nothing new, but this is one of the funnier ones. Like George Foreman before him, what is Mr T doing selling kitchenware?

The Hanoi gloom
I sometimes get obsessed by the crappiness of the weather in Hanoi. It can be so depressing. This photo is taken from the bridge over the Red River, about 11 am, is in colour, and has not been enhanced or played around with. Classic Hanoi miserableness

A river in central Vietnam
I am not sure where this is exactly, but I think it is north of Hue. Anyone have an idea from the topography?

March Theme Day - Passageway to Cambodia
The highway to Cambodia is one of the more organized roads in the country, separating the cars and motorbikes for all round driving ease
