Recycling is very big in Saigon. If something of value can be salvaged, it will be. The lady who owns this bike rides around searching for plastics, metal, cardboard - carry with her the fruits of a days labour.

Fairy lights are a big thing in Saigon. I am a big fan of efforts like the Oscar hotel, who have a map of Vietnam lit up on their facade every night.

On the move

Scenes like this will become less common once the ban on three-wheeled vehicles comes into effect on July 1. Apparently guys like the one above are a danger to others as well as themselves. Apart from the loss of jobs, access to small alleyways and employment these vehicles provide, I am at a loss as to why you would ban the cyclo. It is a great way to travel around the city and is pollution free. In a town filled with exhaust fumes surely this is a good thing?
