To answer your question about Independence celebrations in Jamaica : The celebrations are usually quite festive. There are several community fun days and fairs as well as parades. There is usually a ceremony honouring people who have contributed to Jamaica's heritage in some way as well. Last night they honoured several people who have been great contributors to preserving the music, film and dance aspects of our culture. Unfortunately most of the parades and ceremonies happen in the capital city, Kingston which is over three hours away from Mobay.:(
