White man on public bus

It is always a rarity to see foreigners on public transport, most have access to their own means of transportation or fork out the fare for a motorcycle or car taxi. I have only caught public transport a couple of times, and that was over 4 years ago. And for nothing more than the novelty of having the experience. There are plans to increase the amount of public transport with a metro network zigzagging across the city. You can read all about this massive project here

That's a good link - thanks. A year and a half ago I was writing about the plans at university and it was hell finding accurate information on what was planned for where :)

Shame it'll be 2015 at the earliest until the first line is done!

Love this simple shot. The pastel green bus grabs the eye.

Go green! Looks like the buses have caught on to the green movement!

It's damned hard to catch those buses - sometimes the drivers won't stop for foreigners.

I just randomly ran across your blog and absolutely enjoyed your entries. I am Vietnamese and have not been back to Saigon for 4 years and I miss it dearly. It's amazing to see a foreigner that knows and understands so much about our culture. Awesome!
